WPC office, Islamabad- The Speaker of the National Assembly Mr. Raja Pervaiz Ashraf visited the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) on June 7, 2022 and congratulated the newly appointed Secretary of WPC Ms. Shahida Rehmani. He showed confidence and trust in the women of the Caucus and thanked everyone for inviting him. He reminisced how he himself learned politics from Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and feels honored to be in the presence of such women leadership. He ensured his constant support to the Caucus and wished everyone well for their future endeavors.
New Secretary WPC Ms. Shahida Rehmani thanked Speaker National Assembly Mr. Raja Pervaiz Ashraf for his kind words and welcomed the WPC’s team and working council. She appreciated the invaluable support of the members and emphasized that strong women’s leadership and their fair political representation are the backbones of a country’s development. She ensured that Caucus would remain working for the betterment of women in our country and will continue to highlight women’s issues and the solutions to them.
Ms. Wajiha Qamar was selected as the new Treasurer of WPC. She promised to continue using this forum for the benefit of women and thanked the Speaker National Assembly for his unending support for the women of this caucus. Ms. Shaista Pervaiz malik congratulated the new Secretary and Treasurer and ensured everyone that the future of the Caucus is in good hands. She further said that Caucus will continue its hard work to empower women in the legislative business and decision-making process.
Ms. Samina Matloob emphasized working together irrespective of any political agenda for a sustainable future for our country. Ms. Sana Jamali also explicated that they will all work together as a team. She also invited Secretary WPC Ms. Shahida Rehmani and Speaker National Assembly Mr. Raja Pervaiz to Balochistan Assembly for a visit. The Speaker ended the meeting with the promise to support Caucus in its efforts and thanked all the members again for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to the cause.
