Second Khadija Tul Kubra Awards 2019

Second Khadija Tul Kubra Awards 2019 on the prodigious contribution of women with disabilities in Pakistan. Honored to have the presence of the First Lady. Ms. Samina Alvi and Chargé d’Affaires John Hoover, Ambassador of Azerbaijan Ali Alizada at the event.

At a ceremony at the Serena Hotel on November 4, 2019, Pakistan’s First Lady Samina Alvi and Chargé d’affaires of the United States John Hoover recognized some of these exceptional leaders with the awarding of the annual Khadija Tul Kubra Awards.  Named after the wife of the Prophet (PBUH) and organized by the Women Parliamentary Caucus, STEP, UN Women, and the U.S. Embassy, the awards honor 16 disabled women who are leaders and role models in the field of disability rights, along with 20 female and male champions of empowerment for disabled women.  Participants at the event also endorsed a resolution to designate November 4 as National Day of Women with Disabilities.

The event was attended by parliamentarians, UN high officials, Government officials, Disabled People Organizations (DPO) Leaders from all over the country and women with disabilities across Pakistan.
