A Parliamentary bilateral meeting between Council of Representatives Kingdom of Bahrain and Women’s Parliamentary Caucus, Parliament of Pakistan was held. During the opening remarks from Hon. Secretary WPC Ms. Munaza Hassan MNA welcomed H.E Fawzia Bint Abdulla Zainal, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Kingdom of Bahrain. Her Excellency was accompanied by the Chairman of Foreign Affairs, Defense and National Security Committee of Council of representatives H.E. Mr. Mahammed Ibrahim, Chairman of Standing Committee on Human Rights H.E. Mr. Amar Ahmed, Deputy Chairman of Standing Committee on Human Rights H.E. Mr. Ghazi Faisal and Member of Committee on Parliament Legislative and Legal Affairs H.E. Sayed Falah and Member of Committee on Financial and Economic Affairs H.E. Mr. Mahmood Makki. The delegation was hosted at the Parliament House.
The event formally began with H.E Fawzia’s address to the symposium, she appreciated and encouraged the Pakistan’s efforts in empowering women and she shared the best practices of her country and highlighted their efforts in this regard. Afterwards, the delegation from Bahrain commended the female parliamentarians of National Assembly for their invaluable contribution in Pakistani politics.
The Senior Technical advisor of WPC, Mr. Hassan Hakeem gave an overview of women parliamentarians in Pakistan and the working of WPC to the delegation, followed by honorable Secretary WPC’s remarks, encouraging the Bahrain’s speaker for holding bilateral talks regarding women issues. The Speaker assured Secretary WPC that their Parliamentary Committee on Women & Children and Women’s Parliamentary Caucus will stay in touch through virtual meetings and mutually share their strategies and policies.
After meeting the Secretary WPC also presented locally handcrafted souvenirs handmade by the women of Pakistan to H.E. Fawzia. Afterwards, H.E. Fawzia visited the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus accompanied by Secretary WPC. There, she inaugurated the WPC History Wall showcasing the political efforts and history of women, as well as a map of the past and present Working Councils of WPC.
