A productive meeting was held between Secretary WPC, Dr. Shahida Rehmani and the delegation from UNWomen Mission – Regional Office. The contributions of Women MPs and their struggles were discussed in detail to understand their role in the political landscape of Pakistan. The meeting also focused on the destruction caused in the recent wake of floods and the adverse impact of climate change and how it impacts women and children. Exciting prospects for future collaborations in advancing women’s empowerment and gender equality were discussed. Senator Sana Jamali highlighted the issues and opportunities present in Education sector for women and shared her personal observations from the relief work she had recently done along with Dr. Rehmani during floods. The meeting was attended by and Agata Walczak, Gender, Climate and Security Specialist, Lina Pyykko and Mr. Hassan Hakeem from UN Women.
